My Daily Commute
Looking back at the tower where I live...
Then down the path and past the university school of education
Across the road is the old women's prison
Turning up Union Street the next landmark is Bearance's grocery and butcher. It would be very convenient but for the fact that it's always closed by the time I walk past.
A few blocks later on the left is the Union Street Gospel Chapel. The keen eyed Novocastrian will notice that it sits on the corner of Collingwood - that heroic Geordie is known far and wide!
A couple of houses in the mock-English style
The first glimpse of the main campus up ahead
Here is Goodes Hall and the Stauffer Library:
I take a right at the corner of Union and University...
...then cut through between Douglas Library and Ontario Hall...
...before seeing Jackson Hall in front of me:
As this was a Sunday, I found Paolo taking a break from his thesis to have a quick play!

Portsmouth Village
This is an area not far from where I live. The village was founded in 1784, and began to grow after the penitentiary arrived. It was the location for the sailing events in the 1976 Olympics.
Looking across the harbour; penitentiary on the right, my apartment straight ahead:
Modern art on the lake shore:

Thousand Islands Cruise
This was actually from a few weeks ago, but I don't seem to have found the time to post these until now!
A blustery Sunday afternoon trip out of Kingston harbour and up the St Lawrence River, negotiating the islands...
This is one of several defensive towers around Kingston. Built, I think to keep the Americans out. When Canada was still Britain. And the Americans were revolting.
Andrea trying not to look windswept
Ominous clouds over the Wolfe Island wind farm
This is Kingston General Hospital. Notable only because I eat lunch here most days!
Another tower
Kingston Penitentiary. The tower in the background is the building that my apartment is in.
Returning to Kingston. This is City Hall, behind another tower.

New Apartment
So, I've finally moved into a place of my own and have a little bit of furniture.
The lounge (with balcony at the back):
Another view of the lounge from the kitchen (note the fruit - Mum!)

I'm only on the third floor, but still get a bit of a Lake view:
