Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County is about an hour's drive down Lake Ontario. It's Ontario's newest wine region, and also home to many cheese factories, fine restaurants and art galleries.

Waiting for the ferry to Prince Edward County

Have you ever had to wait for a house to cross in front of you?

These are grape vines (we think!)

Thousand Islands

A cruise on the St Lawrence River through some of the famous Thousand Islands (actually about 1800 islands!).

Fort Henry

Fort Henry was built by the British to protect Kingston, and the St Lawrence River against attack from the Americans during the war of 1812. It is now a national historic site, complete with reenactments, and its own guard.

Fort Henry Guard are not military - mostly local students chosen for their marching and drumming skills. Decked out in typical 1860s garb.

Yes, that is a goat! It's the fort mascot

My parents!

Cataraqui Creek

The visit of my parents started off a week of outings, visiting, and general sloping off work....

This is the Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area - last visited in March to see the maple syrup production.
